Program: |
The Program: Though everyone wants independence, many have not taken basic legal steps to preserve our own. Sarah will discuss these basic steps that apply to everyone age 18 or over. She will also cover important resources for the LGBTQ, etc. community.
Meet Sarah: Sarah was born in San Diego and has lived here in Tulare County all of her working life. Her private practice was in the areas of Family Law (Divorce, Child Custody, Adoptions) and Estate Planning (Wills, Powers of Attorney and Trusts). In both of those areas she had to provide special counseling to her LGBT clients, because the laws did not provide equal or adequate options for them.
Helping adults preserve their independence then became her focus, as she has been working the Kings/Tulare Area Agency on Aging. Members of the LGBTQ community face special challenges related to independence preservation, and those issues will be discussed in our program.
On the personal side, Sarah sings tenor in the COS Masters Chorale, and many of you have met her husband Ken, whose main retirement hobbies are playing classical piano and composing beautiful music.
