Hello, GayVisalia. As this is my first post here, I thought I’d do a basic introduction, for those of you who don’t know me.
My name is Jim Reeves. I’ve lived in Visalia for almost all of my life, and work as a 9-1-1 Emergency Dispatcher at the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office. I’ve been dispatching for over 20 years now, and can’t imagine anything I’d rather do. (Well, I’d quit in a hot minute to be an astronaut, but NASA doesn’t seem interested, so dispatching it is)
In my spare time I dabble in HAM radio, and my callsign is KC6YRU. I was first licensed in 1991, and have radios in my home and car. It’s a great hobby, and a huge step up from my younger days as a CB’er.
Since about 2008, I’ve been blogging at various sites. First was for my own entertainment on MySpace (boy, those were the days!), then at QueerVisalia and Queerlandia. A few years ago, I was invited to be a community blogger at the Visalia Times-Delta‘s online site, one of several ‘at large’ bloggers. You can find my blogs at Alternating Currents. I also have my personal site, at Jimmiejoe.com. You can follow or friend me at my Facebook page, my Twitter feed, and Instagram.
I’m a board member with PFLAG Tulare-Kings Counites, manage the Tuesday Evening Dining Group’s (TEDG) webpage.
I will be posting from time to time about various things, generally gay-related or Visalia-related. Or both. I hope you enjoy my blogs, and I look forward to sharing my thoughts with you.
